Drone Surveys Project Overview

Internal Alterations and wall removal within a commercial restaurant application.

This project was based in a tenement at duke street where internal walls were required to be removed to add bathroom space for customers. The works also involved removing internal walls where new toilets, stores and customer sitting space was required. These alterations gave a more open plan view of the restaurant.

Steel frames and Beams on padstones were used to achieve these wall removals as the walls were load bearing. Where the wall removal was required to achieve an opening for customers to go to the toilets a beam was proposed on padstones. As the existing wall was weak in nature it was proposed that new engineering brick piers were to be constructed on pad foundations to achieve the bearing strength.

To provide more space internally a picture frame of 203 UB was proposed onto 100mm SHS columns. The frame was designed to be within the floor space.

We prepared and managed the necessary approvals including the building warrant process and provided an end to end service with as little disturbance to the client’s renovations.

Structural Assessment for Solar PV Suitability

Lead Structural Ltd was commissioned to carry out a structural assessment of the referenced commercial property to determine its suitability for the installation of a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system. The evaluation included a comprehensive on-site inspection alongside the systematic collection of relevant structural data. Based on the findings, detailed calculations were performed to assess both the existing roof load capacity and the additional loads anticipated from the proposed Solar PV installation.

On-Site Inspection and Findings

The site visit was conducted under favourable weather conditions, enabling an unobstructed non-intrusive visual inspection of the property. Particular attention was given to the roof structure and its supporting framework, as these are critical to the safe integration of a Solar PV system. The inspection included both internal and external structural observations. The assessment concluded that the property’s primary structural elements are generally in good condition relative to its age, with no significant signs of deterioration, deformation, or structural distress observed. This indicates a positive baseline for proceeding with the planned Solar PV installation, subject to final design loading confirmation.
