Internal Alterations and wall removal within a commercial restaurant application.

This project was based in a tenement at duke street where internal walls were required to be removed to add bathroom space for customers. The works also involved removing internal walls where new toilets, stores and customer sitting space was required. These alterations gave a more open plan view of the restaurant.

Steel frames and Beams on padstones were used to achieve these wall removals as the walls were load bearing. Where the wall removal was required to achieve an opening for customers to go to the toilets a beam was proposed on padstones. As the existing wall was weak in nature it was proposed that new engineering brick piers were to be constructed on pad foundations to achieve the bearing strength.

To provide more space internally a picture frame of 203 UB was proposed onto 100mm SHS columns. The frame was designed to be within the floor space.

We prepared and managed the necessary approvals including the building warrant process and provided an end to end service with as little disturbance to the client’s renovations.

Lead Structural Ltd. have been appointed by our valuable client to carry out a roof condition assessment for the roof at Voco Hotel located at junction 11, select car leasing stadium, m4, reading, RG2 0FL.The scope of the services pertained in this document is a detailed assessment for the roof condition of the building within the site boundary to ascertain suitability in relation of installation of PV Panels.A Drone survey for the site has been carried out and a full site aerial reconnaissance has taken place with the help of qualified structural inspectors that prioritize safety and compliance with industry standards.

Our team conducted thorough evaluations, encompassing both roof condition assessment and structural condition assessment, adhering to Eurocodes for structural analysis. Prior to the on-site inspection, a comprehensive desktop study was conducted, encompassing client information review, online sources scrutiny, and historical maps examination. Location review and risk assessment were also carried out to ensure safety protocols. The inspection was facilitated by the use of a Quadrotor drone equipped with 4K photography capabilities, allowing for a thorough visual assessment of all roof areas, especially those with limited access. Safety precautions were adhered to, recognizing the age and material of the roofs, making walkarounds without sufficient propping unsafe. The findings from this assessment, inclusive of defects and recommendations, were compiled to aid SNRG in their decision-making process regarding PV Panel installation.
